This is the eastern side of Fitzrovia, a compact grid of Georgian terraces and newer buildings between Marylebone, Bloomsbury and Soho. The area has long drawn writers and artists, and it keeps an unhurried, residential feel though the West End is a short walk south. Fitzroy Square, with its Robert Adam facades, is five minutes away.

Charlotte Street, around the corner, is one of London's best-known restaurant streets, and Goodge Street has its own run of cafés, delis and pubs. The British Museum is about ten minutes' walk east, and Soho Square, with Soho's theatres and bars beyond it, is a short walk across Oxford Street.

Goodge Street station, on the Northern line, is two minutes from the door. Warren Street adds the Victoria line, and Tottenham Court Road brings the Central and Elizabeth lines, with direct trains to Heathrow and Canary Wharf. University College Hospital and UCL are both within a few minutes' walk.
