Lexham Gardens is a quiet residential square of white stucco and brick terraces with porticoed doorways, set around tree-filled communal gardens just north of Cromwell Road. It sits where Kensington meets Earl's Court and South Kensington, a short walk from the shops of Kensington High Street and the museums of South Kensington.

Kensington High Street, twelve minutes north, has department stores, high-street shops, cafés and restaurants, and the Design Museum at its western end beside Holland Park. Kensington Gardens is eleven minutes' walk, with Kensington Palace on its western side, and the Natural History Museum and the other free museums of Exhibition Road are thirteen minutes east. Gloucester Road and Earls Court Road have supermarkets, bakeries and restaurants for everyday needs.

Gloucester Road station, ten minutes' walk, is on the Piccadilly, District and Circle lines, with the Piccadilly line direct to Knightsbridge, the West End and Heathrow. High Street Kensington, also ten minutes, is on the District and Circle lines, and Earl's Court, eleven minutes, on the District and Piccadilly lines. Buses along Cromwell Road and Kensington High Street run east to Knightsbridge and Hyde Park Corner.
