Up the stairs, the bedroom has a king-size bed, a tall carved wardrobe, a desk and chair and a wall of windows over the rooftops, with a second bathroom and its walk-in rainfall shower beside it. Air conditioning runs throughout. There is no washing machine in the loft; a laundry service is five minutes' walk away. It suits one person or a couple.

Jardins, the gardens, is the collective name for Jardim Paulista, Jardim América and Jardim Europa, the leafy neighbourhoods that run south-west from Avenida Paulista. The loft is at the Cerqueira César end, four minutes from Oscar Freire station and the western stretch of Rua Oscar Freire, Brazil's best-known luxury shopping street.

Rua Bela Cintra is five minutes away and Rua Haddock Lobo seven, both lined with restaurants, cafés and wine bars. Avenida Paulista is about fifteen minutes on foot, with the Instituto Moreira Salles and the Conjunto Nacional at this end of it, and the shade of Parque Trianon about twenty. The Hospital das Clínicas and its medical school are five minutes away.

Oscar Freire station, on metro Line 4, runs to Faria Lima and Pinheiros in one direction and Paulista and the centre in the other, and Clínicas on Line 2 is about eleven minutes' walk. Congonhas Airport is around twenty-five minutes by car.
